In this first part of a two part interview, Strouse performs "Put on a Happy Face" from his breakthrough hit Bye Bye Birdie, and the beautiful "I Want to Be With You" from Golden Boy. He also plays and sings some of the earlier, lesser known tunes that helped establish him as one of the most prolific and successful songwriters in the history of the musical theater.
